Helen Green
Helen Green is a freelance illustrator. Her realistic portraiture has captured the attention of thousands, including big names such as Lady Gaga who of which she works with for the Born This Way Foundation.
She produced a gif set of many of David Bowies flamboyant fashion and iconic looks to pay tribute. This sparked a lot of attention and has been featured on many webpages. http://www.theguardian.com/music/gallery/2015/jan/17/helen-greens-reinventions-of-david-bowie-in-pictures
I think that Helen Greens work shows many sides of the creators of which she admires and creates art from and shows the changes throughout their career. For example the gif sets of David Bowie and Lady Gaga, both show the progression which they have both made throughout their careers.

Distinction Doors 10
Distinction Doors 9
I produced this page on Art Nouveau, to show that I looked into the art movement and understand how it develops and looks.
I created a survey to fully understand what my target audience would want when looking for a door.

Distinction Doors Evaluation
Distinction Doors Evaluation
I analysed the requirements and parameters by creating a mind map which showed my understanding of the live brief. Within this, I analysed what I needed to achieve the criteria of the live brief.
I think my research was effective as I collected primary and secondary research and analysed it for its god features and non beneficial features. I also think that my target audience was effective since I produced a survey to ask family members which are 25+; this gave me an understanding of what my target audience may look for in a door.
I produced a page on the Art Nouveau movement and how it influenced the future of art. However I didn't show my research through my door designs, though i would have changed this.
With the theme of 'Let The Outside In', I chose to lead with flowers since I had seen some doors before hand which had been influenced by a floral theme. I also interpreted the theme in this way as it could go in many directions; from glass to handles.
I found it easy to design for this target audience as the survey I created, told me what my audience would want. For example the large majority of people said they would want a wooden door, therefore allof my contemporary dors are wooden.
When designing my doors, I chose colour schemes which were natural colours or colours which related to the flower which i based the door on. I planned the glass features on the doors by how the theme was fit into the door. For example if the theme was put into a wood carving and not the glass, I would find a textured glass which wasn't related to the floral theme.
I had trouble when designing my doors since I regularly had a lack of ideas; to solve this, I found some images on pinterest of flowers to inspire new doors.
I think I could have managed my time for this project better.
I found my experience of working for a client very benificial for what I may do in the future. I think it has given me the experience that would also make a possitive impression on a future employer.

Distinction Doors 5
Distinction Doors 4
I produced a page exploring the existing doors and colours of Distinction Doors. Whilst creating this, I discovered that their range of colours is fairly limited and does not contain any contemporary colours such as bright and vibrant. A lot of their contemporary designs mainly look the same.
I created this page to evaluate the contemporary and modern doors that were added to my pinterest board. Some of these doors are also influenced by the theme 'Let The Outside In'.

Distinction Doors 3
This double spread shows my understanding of the theme "Let The Outside In". I gathered some secondary photos which relate to the path that I'm taking with this theme and I transcribed them using various materials. On this page I also briefly looked at floral stained glass; this is how I discovered that I was taking this path. I produced a mind map assessing the wide range of context which I could extract from the theme.
This page double sided page is to show the content of my flowers pinterest board. This includes observational drawings of both primary and secondary photographs.
Distinction Doors 2
I created a page in my sketchbook to explore the different styles of contemporary and standard doors. These include various styles of windows and handles and also a wide range of colours.
This page was to assess the fixtures, colours and styles of some primary photos. I also produced observational paintings of them.

Distinction Doors 1
To start my research into the doors project I created a 'Distinction Doors Live Brief Analysis', in which I assessed the brief and the criteria that I have to meet/ how to meet it.
I collected some paint colour charts to view the potential colours which I could include in process of creating my doors, and thought about which colours I would take forward to the final design process. I took into consideration how well the doors would sell if they featured these colours and how unique the doors would look.

Art Nouveau
A style of decorative art, architecture, and design. Prominent in western Europe and the USA from about 1890 until the First World War and characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms. Art Nouveau is the desire to abandon the historical styles of the 19th century which was an important stimulus behind Art Nouveau and one that establishes the movement's modernism.
